Welcome to California Air Adventure Flights

From time to time there will be new Adventure Flights available to CAX pilots.  Some will take a bit of time to accomplish, and some are just short fun flights. Look them over and see which ones you want to fly.  Many of these Adventure Flights were developed for Air Northwest, but have been revised and updated for use by CAX pilots.  All Adventure Flights were developed using version 9.01 of X-plane, but should work fine in version 8.64  All aircraft have been updated to version 9.xx and may not work in version 8.64.  If you find an aircraft that will not work with your version, send Stan and email and he may be able to find a aircraft for your version.

There will be many types of Adventure Flights.  Some will be something fun to do, some will be educational, and many will be based on historic events or famous people.  Most will have aircraft that you don't normally fly, as well as custom scenery.

Current CAX Adventure Flights (Just click on the hotlink to the left in blue text to see a list of the current flights available)  You pick the ones you want to fly. At the bottom of the Current Flights page, there is a link to look into the future, and see what Adventure Flights are being worked on, and the status of each.

Access to Adventure Flights pages and Adventure Flights Aircraft

Adventure Flights pages and aircraft will only be available to CAX pilots ranked Captain or above, and you will need to be logged in to get to the Current Adventure Flights page.

Flight Reporting (non ACARS)

The flight reporting for Adventure Flights is just like you report all your CAX Flights.

Pilots must be Ranked Captain or above to file a CAX Flight report for an Adventure Flight.

1. In the "Type of Flight" drop down menu, use "Adventure Flights"

2. In the "Aircraft" drop down menu, use "Adventure ACF" for the Aircraft type. Specific Adventure Flight Aircraft are being added so look for specific aircraft below the Adventure Aircraft.  You can also specify the actual aircraft used in the comments section.

3. Just above the comments section is a drop down menu that lists all the Adventure Flights.  - Select the Adventure Flight you just flew from the drop down menu.

4. If the Adventure Flight asks for specific LEG information, enter that in the comments section also.

Specific information needed for flight reporting is shown on each Adventure Flight page.

Adventure Flights Flown with ACARS – Flight Reporting

  1. When you do an Adventure Flight using ACARS, you will need to enter the Flight Number.  This will be ADVxxxx.  You can get the Flight Number to use from the Adventure Flight page, or from the Adventure Flight Schedules.
  1. We now have a Special Adventure Flights ACARS Report (compliments of Anthony Sanchez) that will give us information needed for tracking flights flown using ACARS.  (a)  The actual aircraft used (b) Your Hub (c) Your rank (e) and a very important addition, you can now enter comments about the Adventure Flight. - The supplemental Adventure Flights ACARS report is NOT required, but can be used to send in comments about your flight.
  1. After you have flown your ACARS flight, go to this link and you will get the special Adventure Flights ACARS Report: http://www.californiaair.net/application/adventure.html
  1. If you don’t care about having records of your Adventure Flight, you can do your Adventure Flight using ACARS, and not bother sending in the Adventure Flights ACARS Report.
  1. Some flights can NOT be flown using ACARS.  The Hot Air Balloon doesn't have a engine to turn off/on to start ACARS, and ACARS is unable to handle water takeoffs/landings.

* For the Aircraft type:  If Type of Flight is "Adventure Flights" enter a valid Adventure Flights ICAO code. If the ICAO is not found the aircraft will be changed to "Adventure ACF" when the PIREP is saved in the database.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both Stan Fitzgerald and Andrew Cook will recieve copies of the flight report.  This information will:

    a. Give Stan and Andrew a chance to see what flights are being flown.

b  Provide CAX pilots with a means of providing feedback about  the Adventure Flight they flew.

    c. Stan will keep a record of all Adventure Flight Reports submitted. (Pilots Name/Date flown and name of the Adventure Flight)  This information will be used  for awarding "Adventure Flight Pins"

Award Pins

The first award pin will be given for flying 10 Adventure Flights.  Additional pins will be awarded for each additional 10 Flights.

Pins for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Adventure Flights
