CAX offers
a variety of certification levels. Each certification
level was designed to test the pilots ability to navigate
their aircraft successfuly in a variety of environmental
conditions. In order to become certified at a specific
level, a pilot must log a specific number of flight
hours, and in most cases, the pilot must also pass a
check ride specific to the certification level. Each
check ride tests various aspects of instrument flying
beginning with the basics, VOR navigation and ILS approaches.
As new levels of certification are reached, the check
rides become more challenging such as, being able to
land during thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 25
knots, as well as being able to land the aircraft with
only the use of the NDB and DME with virtually no visibility.
All of our check rides make use of real life navigational
airways, SIDs, STARs, and approach plates.
Upon successful competion of each check ride, a pin
reflecting the pilot's accomplishemt is placed on the
pilot's CAX ID Card. |
Instrument
Certification - Pilots that are instrument
certified have demonstrated their ability to navigate
and land their aircraft using standard instrument procedures
under instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). A
CAX pilot must first obtain a rank of Captain before
applying for this certification.
Mountain
Flying Certification -This check ride will
test the ability of a pilot to fly in high-pressure
altitude environment. The beautiful mountains at Aspen
Colorado can be very deceiving. Although this flight
is conducted in VFR conditions, you must maintain situational
awareness at all times or else you will be come a permanent
resident of the Colorado Mountains.
Concorde
SST Certification -The Concorde is a delicate
acf to fly. The CG must be carefully balanced during
all portions of the flight using the forward and aft
fuel tanks. A POH and CG graph are included for proper
CG locations during specific portions of the flight
(the graph is provided from a real Concorde pilot).
The CAX Concorde must be flown with the same numbers
as the real Concorde (CG, airspeeds, vertical speeds,
etc...). No other XPLANE Concorde is flown with such
precision and realism. A pilot must first pass the Concorde
certification check ride in order to qualify to fly
this supersonic bird.
Golden Bear (GB)
Certification - The Golden Bear service is
the elite service of CAX and only qualified pilots can
fly these routes. A CAX pilot must first obtain the
rank of Flight Captain and must be instrument certified
before applying for GB certification. There are ten
levels of certification within the Golden Bear Service.
With each certification level, a GB pilot becomes qualified
to fly a specific aircraft and its associated routes.
The first GB certification is Delta, this is the GB
entry certification. See the GB
web page for further details on advanced GB certifications.
Certified Commercial Senior Captain - Only the best CAX pilots make it this far. A CAX pilot
must first obtain the rank of Commercial Senior Captain,
and must be GB certified (GB certification Delta) before
applying for the Certified Commercial Senior Captian
certification. Upon successful completion of the check
ride, a special rank badge is given to the pilot. |
| Applying
for a certification is easy. Simply click on the certification
pin below and you will be re-directed to the appropriate
certification web page or application. Before applying
for any certification, we strongly encourage all pilots
to take the Training Check Ride. The Training Check
Ride is NOT a certification, but rather, it is a practice
check ride designed to get you ready for the certification
process. Good luck. |
